The area is very well served by public transport too. The Luas takes just 12 minutes to sweep from Glasnevin to George’s Dock, plus there are also direct bus routes to Trinity College, TU Dublin (Grangegorman) and UCD from the area. And if you’re heading away, Daneswell Place is a mere 15 minutes (10 km) from Dublin Airport.
Most of Dublin’s shopping and entertainment attractions are within easy reach, including the city’s best shopping districts Grafton Street and Henry Street, entertainment hubs like Temple Bar, The 3 Arena, Vicar Street and The Bord Gais Theatre as well as cultural offerings like The Gate and Abbey Theatre, The Helix (DCU), National Gallery and Trinity College.
For GAA football, hurling, camogies, handball and rounders, there’s the famous Na Fianna GAA Club, for football you have Tolka Rovers and Home Farm, two of the city’s long established football clubs and for hockey there is Botanic, a women-only club, based on Clare Road. Tennis fans have the choice of either Charleville Lawn Tennis Club with its five top-class floodlit savannah courts or Glasnevin Lawn Tennis Club, which has eight floodlit all-weather, artificial grass courts. And there’s even somewhere for kids to hone their golfing skills at Shandon Pitch & Putt Club.
